Formerly a secluded leper messianic asylum founded in 1887, Hansen House has been transformed into a vibrant cultural center for design, media, and technology. The complex is hidden behind high stone walls in the Talbiya neighborhood and features a hauntingly beautiful historic garden and eerie colonial-style architecture. Today, it hosts rotating art exhibitions, film screenings, and workshops, blending its somber history with modern creativity. The permanent exhibition on the second floor tells the moving story of the former patients and the doctors who cared for them. The atmosphere is strangely tranquil, with a mix of historical weight and contemporary energy. There is a lovely cafe on-site (Ofaimme) that serves organic, local food in the garden. This spot is best for design enthusiasts, history buffs, and those looking for a unique atmosphere away from the main tourist trail.
