Jardin des Tuileries

Jardin des Tuileries

The royal gardens separating the Louvre Museum from the Place de la Concorde are a perfect example of a formal French garden (Jardin à la française). The garden was designed by André Le Nôtre, gardener to King Louis XIV, and is characterized by perfect symmetry and wide tree-lined avenues. Statues by famous artists like Rodin and Giacometti are scattered throughout the garden. It's the classic spot for a typical Parisian 'flânerie' stroll among the water basins and manicured flowerbeds. In the summer, a traditional funfair is set up here, adding a cheerful atmosphere. The garden is suitable for all types of visitors, especially those combining a visit to the Louvre or the nearby Orangerie Museum.

Visitor tips

Don't miss the Orangerie Museum located in the corner of the garden, which houses Monet's Water Lilies.
