Coulée verte René-Dumont

Coulée verte René-Dumont

A unique walkway built on an abandoned elevated railway line in the 12th arrondissement. The promenade stretches for 4.7 kilometers and combines lush vegetation, gardens, and modern design above street level. The path starts behind the Bastille Opera and passes through bridges (viaducts) offering interesting views of Parisian architecture. In some parts, you'll walk among residential buildings at balcony level, and in other parts, you'll descend to street level through green tunnels. The atmosphere is peaceful and disconnected from city noise, despite its central location. This is the model that inspired New York's 'High Line', and it's perfect for a run or a leisurely stroll.

Visitor tips

Start from the Bastille area and walk east towards the Reuilly park.
