Κάστρο Μονολίθου

Κάστρο Μονολίθου

Perched on a 100-meter high rock, the ruins of this Venetian castle offer arguably the best sunset view in Rhodes. The climb to the top involves several stone steps, but the reward is a 360-degree view of the rugged western coast and the island of Halki. Inside the castle walls sits a charming white-washed chapel dedicated to Saint Panteleimon. The site is windswept and wild, offering a more rugged and less touristy experience than the eastern coast. In June, the surrounding landscape is still relatively green, contrasting with the deep blue Mediterranean. It is a perfect spot for couples seeking a romantic and quiet atmosphere. The sheer drop-offs and historical ruins make it a must-visit for adventure seekers.

Visitor tips

Arrive about 45 minutes before sunset to secure a good spot on the ancient walls and watch the sky change colors.
