This brasserie is located on the small and picturesque Île Saint-Louis, right in the heart of the Seine River. The place has retained its original character since the 1950s, with dark wood decor, waiters in white aprons, and a menu that has hardly changed. The specialty of the house is food from the Alsace region, including their famous choucroute (sauerkraut with sausages). The location is perfect, with partial views of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Seine River from the outdoor terrace. The atmosphere is relaxed, less touristy and commercial than in other parts of the city, and feels like Paris of the past. The place is very suitable for a quiet lunch or dinner break after wandering through the island's alleys. It is one of the few places in Paris that still does not accept credit cards (check before arrival).
